This session features researchers and practitioners who design and study making and learning partnerships that stretch across classrooms and out-of-school learning spaces. During this time we will describe the development of partnerships, discuss pitfalls and victories, and examine comparisons across different partnerships.

Erica Halverson is a Professor of Curriculum & Instruction at UW-Madison where she studies how people learn in and through the arts. Erica has worked in a range of arts media including theatre, film, radio, digital art, and most recently, in the emerging Maker Movement. In 2016, Erica co-edited the two volume Makeology (Routledge, 2016), the first volumes dedicated to empirical research on making and makerspaces in education. Erica is the co-founder of Whoopensocker, a Madison-based arts education collaborative between Theatre Lila and the UW-Madison School of Education that conducts creative arts residencies in elementary schools.
