Feedback form is now closed.
This session explores a series of design considerations that interactive technology designers should take into account when incorporating tech into different types of STEM museums (like science centers, natural history museums, zoos, and aquaria). It's grounded in the sociocultural histories of these spaces and how those histories shape visitor needs and expectations and thus the design space for technology. Several different digital game form-factors would be reflectively discussed (e.g., mobile location-spanning games, participatory simulations, tabletop games), with real-life examples highlighting what did and didn't work about the designs given where they were deployed.
